We played a whole mess of spooky games over the last week! It started off playing The Bloody Inn, Nightmare Productions, Evil Dead 2 1%, and Fearsome Floors with Evan and Missy. Then last night I FINALLY had a chance to play Fury of Dracula! Plus, our copy of Spooktacular from Level 99 Games showed up just in time for Halloween!

That being said, it lives in a very strange place for me. Too chaotic to be a strategy game, too strategic to be a party game. But, there’s always a ton of laughter around the table whenever we play. Timber Town from alleycatgames was one of the games I was looking forward to seeing at Gen Con. The tile-laying feels very reminiscent of other games, but the river drafting mechanism adds some unique challenges that I found really enjoyable!

Since we had just played Last Will again recently, it seemed like a good time to finally try The Prodigals Club. Despite keeping the fun, quirky theme from Last Will, I was surprised that the game felt quite different. I was expecting a “Last Will 2.0”, but Prodigals Club definitely stands on its own!

Just had my first dive into Endeavor: Deep Sea from Grand Gamers Guild and Burnt Island Games — and I’m completely hooked. 🐠🌊 A gorgeous, brainy blend of exploration, strategy, and conservation that had me planning three moves ahead and still getting surprised.

I figured I’d better get it played finally, since it just snagged a Kennerspiel des Jahres nomination — well deserved! If you like your euros with depth (literally and figuratively), this one’s worth surfacing for.

Tried World Wonders for the first time and wow—this game is super fun!
The wooden pieces are seriously cool (those landmarks are chunky in the best way), and the gameplay has that perfect puzzley vibe that makes your brain happy.

Definitely one I want to play again!

Just had another amazing game night with Last Will by Vladimir Suchy and Czech Games Edition — There’s something hilariously satisfying about trying to spend your fortune as fast as possible. The theme is so clever and upside-down: hire bad employees, throw extravagant parties, and invest poorly on purpose. The mechanisms are tight and thematic in the best way — everything just clicks. If you’re into euro games with a twist (and a sense of humor), Last Will is absolutely worth checking out.

Everyone knows that I’m a huge LOTR nerd, so I was super excited to finally get a chance to play The Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle Earth from Repos Production! I really enjoyed the tweaks that were made from the original. I like the fact that military now has you placing and moving troops around a map. The One Ring track where the Nazgûl are trying to overtake Frodo is also really cool! A fun game with beautiful artwork!
